Then Mr. Liu Rui, our tour guide for the "A Song of Ice and Fire" Iceland trip from February 2 to 7, is undoubtedly the second type.
We are very honored to have witnessed Mr. Liu Rui's awe, enthusiasm and dedication to this job twice in a month. Once in the Aegean Sea, and the other time, in this unique "alien" place on the earth that is constantly surrounded by the North Atlantic and Gulf Streams.
He really loves Iceland, and he conveys his love to every group member without reservation. Everyone feels and shares this enthusiasm. His company has added a lot of color to our 6-day trip to Iceland. It is no exaggeration to say that without Liu Rui, the Iceland we saw would not be so beautiful, so shocking, and so breathtaking!
As a tour guide, Liu Rui is talented! I believe all his group members will have this consensus. He seemed to be born for this profession, born to share Iceland with more people.
In terms of explanation, his approach is very different, with a rich voice and emotions that are irresistible. He shared with us his personal experiences and experiences in Iceland throughout the whole process, showing us a comprehensive Iceland, with scenery in addition to the itinerary. In addition to being surprised by his understanding of Iceland, we are also full of yearning for the Iceland he mentioned that we have never seen or experienced this time! If Liu Rui participated in the itinerary design of our "A Song of Ice and Fire" Iceland South Tour, we would all like him to design a trip around the island or the east and north, even if it can only be done in summer. In terms of the itinerary, the arrangement is well-organized. In the winter when the weather conditions were relatively bad, Liu Rui took us on the "Game of Thrones" itinerary, and the arrangements for each day were perfect. Even on the days when the one-way drive to the ice lake was more than 3.5 hours, we did not feel that the 4 hours were long at all. Liu Rui not only used his interesting explanations and experience sharing to make us listen attentively, but also stopped from time to time at some places worth staying (rather than rest points such as general gas stations). Those different subarctic deserts and volcanic landforms not only murdered the film everywhere, but also produced countless large films, and made us not feel that the journey was long and boring. Almost every ten minutes, a new landform was changed. Liu Rui would remind everyone to pay attention to the observation. There were different scenery, animals, sunrises, sunsets on the roadside... He would remind everyone to pay attention one by one, so that we would not miss any scenery. This trip to Iceland, with Liu Rui's company, can be said to be an "extreme journey".
In terms of details, Liu Rui's passion for Iceland and the profession of tour guide was also fully demonstrated in this trip. Generally speaking, is it only when you travel by car that you can choose the music you want to listen to and that is suitable for the situation? But our bus tour also has it this time! And they are all carefully selected by our tour guide Liu Rui. Based on his understanding of Iceland, he has selected music suitable for Iceland and exclusive to Iceland. He burned it into a CD to accompany us throughout the trip, creating an atmosphere, lyrics... What Liu Rui did was not only to take care of everyone's food, clothing, housing and transportation on this trip, but also to pay attention to everyone's vision, hearing, taste, smell, touch... all-round feelings. If he was not passionate about this profession and this land, he would not be able to do it!
There is a scene in this trip that has been deeply imprinted in my mind-Liu Rui stood in front of a scenic spot sign, braving the whistling wind, and repeatedly reminded the group members who walked in front of him loudly, beware of danger. There are various dangerous icons on the sign that may occur at this scenic spot. Liu Rui's seriousness at this moment is something we have never seen in the whole trip. He had always been gentle before, but his seriousness at this time made everyone feel nervous.
This is a place that is not on the itinerary. Danger has occurred there before. Every year, people die or go missing there, but many group members strongly request to go there.
Go? Or not?
I have no idea whether Liu Rui had any entanglements in his mind at that time. If he goes, he will not only have to take risks that may be unimaginable, but he will also need to patiently communicate with the driver for a long time. After all, the drivers of the two previous groups refused to go, and he needed to patiently explain the guests' requirements to the driver. I believe that our driver finally agreed to his request because of his trust in Liu Rui, the tour guide. Their cooperation made the driver trust him, and finally let our Polish driver agree to drive us through a bumpy muddy road, cross bridges and pits, and take everyone deep into the glacier.
If he didn't go, Liu Rui could certainly be at ease, but those group members would have a permanent regret in their hearts. No one comes to Iceland without a long journey, and no one wants to leave regrets. Fortunately, we have Liu Rui. His final decision satisfied everyone's wishes, but his seriousness and vigilance throughout the whole process also made us aware of the responsibility he assumed. Fortunately, everyone believed in this Iceland travel expert certified by the Icelandic National Tourism Board. The group members did not do what he said not to do, and did not go to places that could not be visited. Finally, we had a safe "ultimate journey".
